Their production site in Tuscany, Italy totals 60,000 square metres, in addition to manufacturing facilities based in Sicily and Knowsley, Merseyside, UK.Manufacturers of an extensive selection of cables, primarily Tratos offer products for the power supply market, including conventical copper and aluminium cables ranging from low, to medium and high voltage variations.

A proportion of the cable products produced in Italy are exported into markets elsewhere around the world, such as Brazil, China, Cuba and Russia. A majority of the cables are also installed into a variety of end applications within Italy. For over 20 years, Tratos Group has partnered with BASEC as their chosen independent third party approval service. The notified body undertakes their cable testing and certification requirements, to help Tratos evidence the high levels of quality and safety in their products.

Investing for the future
The environment, and the impact the company has on it, is of top corporate priority to Tratos Group. To demonstrate this commitment the company has gained IS0 14001 environmental management systems through BASEC to enhance their environmental performance and credentials, as well as IS0 9001 quality management. In additional to adherence with these globally recognised systems, Tratos Group has gained several cable product approval certifications in line with specific British standards. The approvals link directly to cable ranges including armoured power cables with low smoke halogen free sheathing, fire resistant screened cables and medium voltage distribution cables.
As a result of gaining BASEC’s product and management systems certifications, Tratos Group is able to use the appropriate marks to evidence the approvals they have gained. This in turn helps to give their instil customers with greater confidence that the cable products are verified to meet their required standards. Achieving BASEC certification also helps Tratos Group to differentiate in the market, supporting them to be recognised in the industry for their commitment to ongoing cable quality and safety conformity. This provides assurance to other stakeholders in the supply chain, such as specifiers and installers that the cable products are fit for use in their end application. As a result of passing stringent testing procedures, they will be safeguarding their projects for the future.
