Akram Abdelwahab
Group Technical Manager
Akram leads our technical team as Group Technical Manager. Prior to BASEC, Akram worked at Nexans where he held the position of Technical Manager. He has also held similar technical positions during employment at both El Sewedy and Alfanar.
He brings with him a wealth of technical knowledge of overhead overhead, low voltage (LV), medium voltage (MV) and high voltage (HV) capabilities, which strengthen the BASEC presence.
Akram works closely with all regional teams to enhance customer support.

Joanne Griffin
Head of Operations (UK)
Joanne has been with BASEC for several years and has seen the company transition into the global brand it is today.
She has worked cross-functionally throughout the business, starting off in the certifications team back in 2007. She then went on to work within accounting where she received her AAT Level 4 qualification. Joanne has previously lead the commercial team and currently manages the UK laboratory team as Head of Operations UK.

Tugce Simsek
Regional Technical Manager - Turkey & India
Tugce has experience in engineering, quality control and assurance.
Before joining BASEC, she worked as an R&D Engineer and Quality Engineer/Manager in the cable industry for 3 years. Specific areas of experience are low voltage, CPR, wire, cable quality tests, cable standards, and ISO standards. Her role involves preparing a technical assessment of CPR quotes, the development of compounds, and business development. Tugce has a master’s degree, holding a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering. Based in Turkiye, she works closely with regional teams to enhance customer support.

Global Commercial and Sales Manager
Mathew leads our Commercial team as Global Commercial and Sales Manager. Having worked across multiple teams he can bring a holistic approach to his role benefiting the brand and customer.
Before BASEC Mathew worked at Nexans as a business development manager for 4 years. Having worked closely with the product end-user, Mathew has a wealth of knowledge and strong industry experience.
His main objective is to deliver the commercial plan to grow the business and strengthen the BASEC presence across our key regions.

Marion Robinson
Customer Account Manager - UK & Europe
Marion is responsible for the day to day management of customer accounts and works very closely with Mathew Sharman, the Global Commercial and Sales Manager. As a seasoned customer service professional, Marion has over 15 years of experience from the aviation and communications technology sectors.
Marion prides herself in her listening and solution based skills. She is excited by technological advancements and supporting you to deliver a robust service.

Alistair Bradbury
Customer Account Manager - Asia

Alistair has over 15 years’ experience in relevant industries varying from renewable energy to now the cable industry, bringing his well-rounded expertise into the commercial team.
Working closely with the regional commercial managers he is responsible for the day to day management of customer accounts in Europe, China, and Asia. As a commercially driven professional, Alistair thrives on achieving a mutually beneficial partnership with BASEC's valued clients, recognising the commercial significance and balance importance of strong business growth and proactive Account Management.

Nilesh Khatri
Regional Technical Manager - Middle East and North Africa
Nilesh joined BASEC in April 2021 as Regional Technical Manager – Middle East and North Africa.
He holds over 9 years’ experience in the wire & cable industry across the Middle East, Africa and Commonwealth of Independent States. With a techno-commercial profile, Nilesh holds a multi-dimensional work history ranging from cable design, sales, marketing and business development.
Having started his career with Power Plus Cables in the UAE as a Cable Design Engineer, since then Nilesh has held a number of technical and commercial positions across the cable industry at Nuhas Oman, KEI Industries and Polycab India.
Based in the Dubai office, he brings with him expertise in a variety of wire and cable types and the ability to apply commercial acumen, to further strengthen the BASEC presence within the region.

Melwyn Fernandes
Customer Account Manager - India
Melwyn's experience spanning manufacturing, operations and sales. He has been involved with the development of systems designed to increase productivity and efficiency. Alongside this, he has helped to develop new business proposals, agreements, marketing and product launch materials.
Prior to joining BASEC, Melwyn worked for Ducab for 24 years and for Trinity College of London based in Mumbai.
He is focussed to grow regional presence in India through localised customer account management and technical support.
