Lead Auditor - UK

Reports to: Certification and Compliance Director

Main duties:

  • Attending client sites both in the UK and overseas to carry out management systems and/or product audits in support of BASEC’s approval schemes and/or Construction Products Regulation (Cables) requirements. All as instructed by the Certification Office
  • Undertaking cable selections and pickup’s at client sites as directed
  • Dealing with assessment and technical enquiries raised by clients and feeding them back to the office in relation to the various certification schemes operated by BASEC
  • Reviewing of audit reports and responses to Non-conformities raised during audits
  • Providing assistance to the Certification Team with respect to Audit Plans, and complaints as and when required
  • Witness MV, HV and Fire testing at clients’ sites and/or test laboratories
  • Supporting the Chief Executive, Technical Director and other staff as and when required
  • Health & Safety Responsibilities.

Critical criteria:

  • Registered lead auditor for ISO 9001
  • Proven ability to meet targets
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • A willingness to travel both nationally and internationally

The duties are predominantly non-BASEC office based and will be performed at various locations, anywhere in the world, such as sites, factories, facilities, offices of other organisations including but not limited to clients or subcontractors. Up to 80% of a lead auditors time is spent travelling. When not auditing, Lead Auditors are expected to attend the BASEC office. The exact number of days per month in the BASEC office will be dictated by circumstances.

Senior Fire Technician

Reports to: Laboratory Manager

Senior responsibilities
Duties to include but are not limited to:-

  • Coordination of all Fire Test Technicians, including reviewing any training needs
  • To undertake technical review of test reports before issue
  • To undertake review and confirmation of test failures
  • To develop and maintain effective working relationships with new and existing clients
  • To ensure the quality and safety procedures are followed within the designated laboratory areas, to meet policy and legislative requirements

Responsibilities with respect to performing tests:

  • To undertake own testing, as assigned, within determined competencies and authorisations
  • To check the performance and calibration status of fire test equipment, liaising with the Laboratory Engineer
  • To contribute towards the maintenance and operation of new and existing laboratory facilities, practices and procedures to enable testing work to be carried out in a way that meets BASEC’s, its clients and accreditation needs

  • To undertake practical run through of any new test methods before general rollout into the laboratory. (equipment, procedure, training requirements, etc).

Expertise and experience required

  • 5 years’ experience in testing and holding current competency and authorisation of the range of tests carried out within the team.

Cable Preparation Technician - Dubai

  • Senior Test Technician (BASEC UK Laboratory)
  • Test Engineer (BASEC UAE Laboratory)

Role Summary:

BASEC undertake independent testing of cables for manufacturing organisations worldwide to ensure that electrical, mechanical and fire performance is in line with standards in order to maintain product integrity and quality.

Testing of cables at all BASEC Laboratories are carried out by a team of qualified technicians working to stringent standards in the areas of Mechanical & Electrical, Fire and Chemical test disciplines.

The role of the Cable Preparation Technician is to undertake the preparation of product samples, to a high level of accuracy and in line with the required standards, using a variety of hand and power tools to ensure that products are ready for the technicians to undertake the required tests. This is a development role which may lead to progression towards a test technician role over a number of years for the right candidate. Full training will be provided by BASEC.

Major Responsibilities:

  • To work with the Laboratory Team to prioritise cable samples for preparation, within determined competencies and authorisations.
  • To liaise with Laboratory Logistics to retrieve samples for testing from the stores.
  • To undertake cable sample preparation to pre-determined standards following correct procedures
  • To undertake basic testing of products as required, and once trained to do so.
  • To keep the Laboratory Team informed of the progression of sample preparation such that the work can be assigned to test technicians in a timely manner.
  • To ensure that all tools and equipment used are maintained to a high standard.
  • To contribute towards the general operation and housekeeping of the laboratory facilities.
  • To ensure the quality and safety procedures are followed within the designated laboratory areas.

  • Ownership of sector global marketing plans and campaigns
  • Provide support and enabling function to Marketing Director in wider marketing activities as required

  • Full campaign activation experience through all the Marketing channels such as: web, white paper, blog, paid social, presentations etc

Essential Skills:

  • Transform technical information into interesting and engaging campaign material that is client centric focused
  • Design and create internal and external marketing materials, working with internal stakeholders including technical managers, external suppliers and agencies as appropriate
  • Manage company website and social media platforms- Website, Facebook, LinkedIn, twitter, etc
  • Design and manage production of advertising and other collateral, manage advertising budget and deal with journals
  • Develop and manage newsletter program – Manage key metrics including open rates to drive increase performance
  • Create and implement central measurable marketing campaigns to deliver increased awareness of our products and services
  • Reserve exhibition booth space, and design / produce associated items. Attend and capture leads at each show
  • Capture stock footage, commission other sources, edit and produce video material, manage publication of video material. Management of image and media library.
  • Building and facilitation of webinars
  • Coordination of our attendance at industry events including conferences & seminars and promote the events including the scheduling of email activity, social media post
  • Monitor and control expenditure within agreed budget
  • Assist with ad hoc projects as they occur
  • Health and Safety responsibility for yourself and colleagues
  • Establish and manage CRM system of current customer & potential prospect databases.
  • Creation and management of company Intranet

Critical Criteria:

  • Minimum 3 – 5 years’ marketing experience in B2B marketing
  • Educated to degree level
  • Good knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Salesforce, Hootsuite, Mailchimp, Google Analytics, CRM, PPC, SEO, Go To Webinar, Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for internal and external engagement
  • Self-starter, ability to work alone or in teams
  • Customer facing experience
  • Build, retain, grow relationships at all levels Excellent communication skills at all levels including presentation skills
  • Market research & insight experience

Preferred Criteria:

  • End to end ownership and development of Sector value proposition & campaigns
  • Sector knowledge of the TIC industry, including Construction, Solar, Automotive, Rail, Oil, Gas, Petrol, Power distribution, Fire performance, Cable Industry experience would be great but not essential
  • Global B2B Marketing experience
  • ROI and KPI experience in budget spend and management
  • Customer centric focused

This position is based at the BASEC office in Milton Keynes, however some travel maybe required with this role
