UKCA Transfer process

Six steps to transferring your CPR AVCP requirements testing from your current notified body to BASEC

The below process outlines moving from an existing certification provider to BASEC. Transferring to BASEC enables dual certification for AVCP System 1+, which allows the marking of both UKCA for the UK market and CE marking for the European market, valid as of 1st January 2021.

Step-by-step guide

Step 1 Transfer agreed and test data reviewed

Once the decision to transfer has been agreed upon, you are then required to submit relevant test data for an initial assessment before cable sample selection

Step 2 Sample selection and shipment

A remote video call will then be carried out with you to make the selection of cable samples required, which you must then send to the BASEC laboratory as soon as possible

Step 3 Cable testing

Once the cable samples have been received, they will be scheduled for validation testing as a comparison of testing from the current notified body

Step 4 Remote review

During the testing period, a remote desktop review of all relevant documents such as FPC reports and copies of CoCPs will be carried out in order to transfer to UKCA

Step 5 UKCA Issued

Upon completion of testing, CoCPs are issued by BASEC UK for UKCA marking and by BASEC Conformity Limited for CE marking. BASEC will also issue classification reports for UKCA marking at System 3

Step 6 Ongoing audits

An ongoing audit schedule is required to confirm the continued validity of the classification. Mandatory triennial testing must be undertaken prior to the third year of holding System 1+
