Think Green for a brighter futureBASEC has been urging cable manufacturers to consider the long term impact of their products and the very real need to consider better ways of managing scrap cable, preferably at a local level. Local recycling schemes are already in place for other construction materials.
The Eco-Green Cable Certification Schemeallows manufacturers to gather information and demonstrate that they have effective systems in place to verify the absence of the designated hazardous substances from their products to ensure they conform to legislation such as RoHS. It is a rigorous verification process that BASEC's own teams of high skilled engineers and auditors manage.
With a need to address a broader range of environmental issues such as carbon footprint and recycled content, BASEC now recommends that cablemakers use their established information gathering systems, and the Eco-Green scheme has been broadened to this effect. Please don't hesitate to contact us for more information on this issue.
