Electrical safety is paramountAs the issue of Home Information Packs becomes even more contentious with its imminent introduction, BASEC is pointing out the absence of an electrical safety check and the inherent dangers of launching the scheme without one. We have called for a proper electrical survey to be included and we support the Electrical Safety Council's campaign to include electrical safety information and tests in the Home Condition Report as part of HIPs. We only hope common sense will prevail and that these measures will be adopted soon to help safeguard the safety of the homebuyer.

Group examines certification issuesThe BASEC Certification Committee has been re-established with a broader remit to monitor BASEC's certification activities. New members have joined from a number of organisations including the IET, the Electrical Distributors Association, CIBSE and the Energy Networks Association. The Committee will be meeting periodically to discuss a range of topics.
