BASEC Has Record Number of Enquiries at Middle East Electricity

Stand: 5A15 BASEC showcased the latest advances of its world-class cable testing laboratory at Middle East Electricity Exhibition (MEE), held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from 2 to 4 March 2015.

MEE is the largest and longest running power event in the region, attracting businesses working in the power, lighting, nuclear, and renewable energy sectors. Celebrating its 40th anniversary, this year MEE welcomed 1400 exhibitors and 20,000 visitors from 114 countries.

Hundreds of delegates visited BASEC’s stand over the three day exhibition including cable manufacturers, standards authorities and electrical engineers interested in BASEC’s test and certification services and garnering its expertise on the forthcoming CPR requirements.

Glynn Stainthorpe, business development director at BASEC said; “We were delighted to welcome so many international visitors to the stand this year. With enquiries from businesses based in India, Australia and Hong Kong, as well as the Middle East regions, it was a great opportunity for knowledge transfer on a global scale.”

BASEC has recently commissioned brand new test equipment, increased its fire testing services and extended its United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) accreditation to include ISO 17025. In the United Arab Emirates, BASEC has also been awarded pre-qualification status as an independent testing laboratory for low voltage cables by the Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA).

For more than a decade, BASEC representatives have been working in the Middle East serving reputable cable manufacturers who hold BASEC certification for their products. BASEC has also developed strong links with key local regulators, utilities and industry groups who seek to drive forward quality, service, and safety standards in this globally connected region.
