On 29 November 2011, Ducab launched its AED 500 million high voltage factory ‘Ducab-HV’, a joint venture between Ducab, ADWEA and DEWA at its site in Jebel Ali, Dubai. With an audience that included H.H. Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, and H.H. Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court, joint venture partners, regional business leaders and BASEC representatives, the new plant is the first dedicated high voltage cable manufacturing facility in the region.

Offering high voltage cable systems up to 400 kV, its 148m tall vertical extrusion tower (equivalent to a 44 storey residential tower) dominates the Jebel Ali skyline and is designed to ensure that the high voltage cables are manufactured to the highest quality standards to meet both regional and international demand. Ducab-HV products will cover the highest voltages used in the GCC and will increase Ducab’s production capacity by 15,000 tonnes of conductor.

Dr Jeremy Hodge, chief executive of BASEC said: “We were delighted to accept the invitation to attend the launch of Ducab-HV and witness a tour of the new production and laboratory facilities which were very impressive. Ducab is BASEC’s longest standing client in the region and they hold a wide range of product and management systems certifications from BASEC.”
