Cable schemes spelled out online

05/02/07

The British Approvals Service for Cables (BASEC) has spelled out its range of services by providing an outline of its schemes online for the first time.

The summary provides cable manufacturers with a short guide to what they can expect when they commit to a BASEC certification scheme and what is involved in the process.

Dr Jeremy Hodge, Chief Executive of BASEC, said: "We want to make our services accessible and transparent. With a summary of the schemes available online, manufacturers can see what the process means and the value of gaining certification."

BASEC certification is highly respected and means those products or services have been verified at the very highest level.

The wide range of services covers product approvals and certification, systems assessment and certification.

BASEC also offers auditing for process capability in cable making and independent testing and reporting in the event of disputes.

By detailed examination of manufacturers' production processes and controls and rigorous testing, BASEC ensures that cable products meet appropriate national, European and international standards.

The BASEC schemes are designed to assess an organisation's ability to produce goods and services consistently to specification and customer requirements, in a safe manner and with due regard to environmental needs.
